Who This Program Is For
Developing Athletes
Athletes in grade 7-9 who would like to further develop their skills in track and field in a positive setting with high expectations, like-minded teammates, and supportive coaches. Work towards specialization in a particular discipline and take advantage of various competition opportunities at all levels and abilities
Multi-Sport Benefits
At this age, it is healthy for athletes to participate in multiple sports or activities but track and field should be a priority to you (first or second sport choice). Through track and field, you will become a better runner and athlete which translates into all other sports as well.
Event Group Training
Specialized coaching in your chosen discipline
SPRINTS
Head Coach: Eric Klein Assistant Coaches: Nik Vincent, Deanna Shaw
60m-400m sprints. Focus on speed development, power, and technical precision.
Typical Week: 3 practices including speed and power work (hills), technical drills, and strength training
Current Schedule: Tuesdays 6 pm @ Canada Games Park, Thursdays 6 pm @ Hydro Hill, Saturdays 10 am @ Canada Games Park
HURDLES
Head Coach: Brian Wilson Assistant Coaches: Steven Fife, Jessica Miotto
Sprint Hurdles (60/80/100/110 m) and Intermediate Hurdles (200/300/400 m) as well as Steeplechase. Focus on speed development, power, and technical development and precision.
Typical Week: 2 practices on top of sprints or distance, on alternating days, with a technical focus

DISTANCE & CROSS COUNTRY

Assistants to Both Groups: Philes Ongori, Kathleen O'Connell
800m-3000m track events and cross country racing. Endurance development with structured training phases.
Typical Week: 4-5 practices including tempo runs, intervals, long runs, strength/mobility, technical components, and recovery
Current Schedule: Mondays 5 pm (KinPlus Strength/ Mobility), Tuesdays 6 pm @ Canada Games Park, Thursdays 4:30 pm (Boys)/6:00 pm @ Hydro Hill, Saturdays 10 am @ Canada Games Park, Sunday LONG RUNS vary and sometimes independent
JUMPS
Head Coach: Mark Goveia Assistant Coaches: Wanita May, Mark O'Quinn, Hannah Vyn
Long jump, triple jump, high jump, and pole vault*. Technical skill development with power training.
Typical Week: 2-3 practices including technical work, approach training, and plyometrics on top of sprint training and conditioning
THROWS
Head Coach: Kelly Saldutto
Shot put, discus, javelin, and hammer (or weight throw in the Winter). Strength and Power development with technical refinement.
Typical Week: 4 practices including technical drills, throws and reps, and strength training
Current Schedule: Mondays 5:30 pm, Tuesdays 5:30 pm, Thursdays 5:30 pm, Saturdays 10:00 am - all @ Canada Games Park
COMBINED EVENTS
Pentathlon, heptathlon, and decathlon training. Multi-event athletes work across disciplines.
Typical Week: Practices rotating through event groups with comprehensive training allowing athletes to work with a variety of coaches

Optional strength training sessions to complement event-specific work
High Performance
Regular progress monitoring and consultation with High-Performance Coordinator throughout the season
Competition Planning
Strategic meet selection and season planning for optimal performance
